Frequently Asked Questions
- Prepare to feel sore like you had a hard workout for the next 24-48 hours. Don’t plan on working out within 24 hours of a deep tissue massage.
- Don’t hesitate to provide feedback during your massage treatment. Let your Massage Therapist know if you require more or less pressure.
- Just know that it will not take one session to completely fix an injury or pain. You will have some relief that day but it’s a combination of homework as well as regular visits to be fully back to health.
Feel free to wear underwear during your treatment if more comfortable. Patients are always draped with sheets during treatments. If the lower back, glutes and hips are being worked on some patients find that direct contact to the skin is more effective.
Drinking a glass or two of water post-massage is never a bad idea. Maybe we’re thirsty and the water helps to quench our thirst. It is debatable that “toxins” can be “flushed” out with increased water intake following a massage.
Some patients can tolerate other treatments such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic or Physiotherapy without issue while others like to separate their treatments on different days. Always let your Massage Therapist know prior to your treatment if you had or are having another therapy on the day of your massage.
Consider using a foam roller (available for purchase at our clinic), tennis ball(s), lacrosse ball(s) or other soft tissue tools at home. This way your Massage Therapist will be able to work on your muscles more effectively.
Tipping is discretionary.
